The Johnstown Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, dynamic, self-motivated individual for the position of Librarian I. This position reports to the Library Director and is responsible for providing professional library services to staff and patrons as well as innovative programming and extensive community outreach.
Schedule includes daytime, evening, and weekend hours, for a total of 35 hours/week. Starting salary is $35,000, with additional benefits.
The successful candidate will have:
• Master’s Degree in Library Science;
• NYS Public Librarian Certificate;
• Experience and comfort with technology;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others;
• Courtesy, positivity, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
The position of Librarian I is a competitive position within the Fulton County Civil Service Department. Provisional appointment will be made with a Civil Service examination to be held at a later date for permanent appointment. Residency in New York State is required.
